The new Samsung Galaxy S7 was launched on Sunday 21st February in Barcelona, the day before Mobile World Congress Tradeshow, where Samsung showcased the phone to the press. You can view the full Galaxy S7 tech spec here.
Samsung has clearly been listening carefully to consumers, as they have bought back two important features absent from the Galaxy S6, namely a microSD slot, which has a capacity of up to 200GB, and waterproofing to the IP68 standard, meaning you can use the phone in the bath or shower, and get away with dropping it in water up to a depth of 1.5m. The phone is also very strong for mobile gaming, making use of the new Vulcan API to bring stunning graphics previously only available to PCs and games consoles. However, the really big feature for the Galaxy S7 is virtual reality. The phone has a virtual reality headset accessory called Gear VR, which you clip it in to, giving you your own virtual reality entertainment system with head-tracking ability. The Gear VR makes use of the Galaxy S7's class-leading SUPER AMOLED display to produce breathtaking virtual reality environments that you can really lose yourself in.
The Samsung Gear VR headset is being bundled free when you order the Galaxy S7 on contract from Carphone Warehouse.
