Sarah Harding Scrapes Ferrari

Girls Aloud fans will already know all about Sarah Harding's little incident in a Ferrari. First revealed briefly to the nation in the Girls Aloud Off the Record documentary, the full story featured on Channel 5's Fifth Gear, which had invited Girls Aloud to a track day at Silverstone. Fifth Gear presenter and Touring Car Champion Jason Plato looked very pleased to have the chance to show off to the girls, demonstrating exactly how fast you can belt a Porsche 911 Carrera S around the circuit. However, even with his qualifications as an ex British Touring Car Champion, he was unable to convince Cheryl Tweedy to be a passenger. However, all the girls were game for having a racing lesson themselves, and they were all soon putting in respectable performances, despite Cheryl protesting that she was more used to an automatic. A very excited Sarah proved that she's not just a pretty face and a great singer, but also something of a speed freak too. She really did fly around the track, and seemed to impress Mr Plato with her enthusiastic driving. Sarah comfortably won the competition, 2nd was Kimberley, 3rd Cheryl, 4th Nadine and in 5th place Nicola. If memory serves, Sarah's laptime was around the 1:46 mark, but the programme didn't give us anything to compare this against, but it looked pretty respectable to us. Sarah's prize was to take out one of Silverstone's Ferrari 355s, but an over-enthusiastic acceleration out of its parking space meant she couldn't straighten up in time to avoid a scrape with the trusty Girls Aloud people carrier. We're not sure who would be responsible for the insurance, but Sarah would probably be in a position to foot the bill as Girls Aloud are continuing their chart success and are shortly embarking on a stadium tour. Mr Plato concluded that Sarah was a bit of a nutter when it came to driving, but he said it with a bit of a grin on his face .....
